Screwy Alarm Screwy
So I don't have a remote entry key for my Jetta so when I go to unlock it I use the key. Sometimesthe alarm doesn't Activate/Deactivatewhen I Lock/Unlockthe car. The dealership guy thought it might be the sensor in the door but wasn't sure and it would cost big$ just to diagnose the problem.
Has anyone else had a problem like this and found out exactly what it was? If so I may be able to fix it myself or just tell the dealership to replace X. I hate having to get in and put the key in the ignition to deactivate the alarm when it doesnt respond, it's embaressing. Please Help...

RE: Screwy Alarm Screwy
I just bought a 98 Passat, and I know the feeling. I've taken to locking and unlocking the car from the trunk lid. Sometimes when locking the driver's door, the alarm doesn't arm, sometimes when unlocking, it doesn't un-arm. Can be quite frustrating! I'm a MB tech, so I'm trying to find an in at the local VW dealer in the service dept.
If I come up with anything, I'll post it here.
