Default high idle in mild weather, and odometer inop

On my 89 jetta witha 1.8L digafant injection seems to be stuck on a high idle like the cold start injetor is open. Has anyone had this problem? If so how do you make it go away? Then when I filled up with fuel I pushed the reset on the trip meter to try to figure out my fuel milage. After 16.1km it stopped recording, I tried resetting it again to see if it would loosen up, and that did not work. I reset it again, and then pulled the stick out to make shure that it was not stuck--it is still inop. Anyone have any ideas?
