I just bought a 96 Golf from a guy I know and the alarm keeps giving me trouble. He told me when I bought it that every now and then when you shut off the ignition and then open the door the alarm will sound. You just have to re-lock the door from the outside to turn it off. No big deal....

Well it did it wenesday when i got to work, and i just kinda laughed about it. Then starting on Friday it started doing it almost everytime i open the door either to get in or out. It will also do it if you stall the car so i have to take the key out stick it out the window, unlock the door and then restart the car. Its a real pain in the *** cus this is the first manual car ive ever driven and i still stall it occasionally.

I found the alarm speaker under the wiper cowl and disconnected the harness to it, but the alarm system itself is still working cus it causes the hazards to flash and i want to know if I can reset it or something or just disengage the alarm completley, there is not anything valuble in or on the car so Im not really concerned with it getting stolen, I just want this problem to end so I dont have to keep sitting in traffic like a jackass taking the key out and in and everything!!! Hopefully someone knows, and no I am not a car thief trying to steal a car.

 

take it to an alarm instaler or phone one for help check the brand name and look it up on the net they might help. taking it out yourself could start a string of problems
