Default Interior lights and alarm problem!

New member please help! 2001 VR 6 Interior lights & alarm don't work when drivers side door is opened.

I think the key fob is defective or maybe the VW plug wires. If not, check the battery and try putting a new one if it is not functioning coz' it might be battery charge low. Just try it! Hope it may help you. Goodluck

Thanks 4 the reply let me rephrase the ?. Is there a door sensor on the drivers side door that allows the car to sense when the car dooris open? If i set the alarm and open the door by sticking my hand out the window to test the alarm the alarm won't go off; and when i open the drivers side door the interior lights don't come on. When i open the other doors the alarm works and the interior lights come on.
