Default Gas in my oil

I opened the oil cap on my valve cover yesterday to add some oil and noticed some shiny bubbles around the rockers and the cap smelled like gas. Is ther anything i can do to help/prevent this from happening, some kind of additive i can add to eliminate this, and do i have to change my oil to get rid of it?

hmm that kinda sucks, gas in your oil isnt really a good thing. you should definatly change your oil and if theres gas in the oil in your oil pan then i would do a compression check (you can buy the stuff to do it at like autozone or someplace like that for about 50 dollars) also if you have a newer model with a magnetic drain plug look for metal shavings on it. if you have shavings or the compression test is not normal take it to a mechanic

At first glance sounds like piston rings, cause gas is on top of the piston for ignition, while oil lubes the rings/cylinders. How old is your car?? Yea check for oil around the plugs

its runs smooth, i got caught in a rain storm a week ago and she stalled out after going through a couple deep puddles, i thought this might be an after effect. I will check the plugs for oil as well.

well kill 2 birds with one stone, check for oil on the plugs and you have to remove the plugs to run a compression test, and that can tell you if your rings are shot

Gas in the oil doesn't mean bad rings. It means the gas is
getting in from a bad fuel pump if it has a mechanical pump
mounted on the engine block. It also could get in with a bad
carb that's flooding or if it has fuelinjection then a bad injector will flood and the fuel will by pass the rings and end
up in the oil pan. By all means change the oil.
