Question Clunk/Thud noise in front end

So my wife's 2006 VW Jetta has started to make a clunk/thud noise. It happens when turning sharply. Mainly it happens when hitting a bump at the same time, but sometimes it happens just while pulling in/out of a parking spot on level ground. It seems to be coming from the middle or passenger side of the front end.

Ex: Backing out of the driveway and coming onto the roadway.

Any ideas? Trying to avoid a high cost visit to the dealership. Maybe you guys can give me a place to start?

Thanks!

Interesting that it would happen in an 06 but, I am 99.9% sure you have a bad cv joint or joints. If you do it yourself it is easiest and not much more expensive to replace the whole axle.
