Default Choices choices choices.... what to get????

Well right now I drive a 1998 2.0L Golf GL. This month I will be looking for a new car and I'm stuck between a few choices... VR6 (either a later mk3 or early mk4), 1.8t (early mk4), or a TDI (early mk4)

I'm stuck because I would like something fuel efficient preferably, but also I want something fun to drive. I value handling more than straight line speed, but the problem is that there aren't many bendy roads where I live. If there were, my 1998 golf would be already fun enough!

I drive 90 km a day round trip from home to school and back. In the morning I take the local roads, but i sometimes stay late at school to study. So I take the highway home when it isn't busy.

So I'm stuck... TDI, VR6, or 1.8T? I'm 19, so insurance is also a factor. I want some fun, but also practicality. Cost of the actual car isn't a huge factor because I know I can find all three cars within my budget... Its mostly cost of ownership that I'm thinking about.

WHat you guys recommend? Thanks!

Man... if only they made a vr6 tdi golf...

Sorry this is an old post that I've noticed you made as I've just read your 1.8 GTi thread.

Well if economy is your first priority then its got to be a TDI engine. If you want it to drive sporty then you can have it chipped to increase the bhp depending on which engine you choose, some give more bhp than others.

Oh I've moved this thread from GTI\TDI because it neither as yet into General Tech.
