Default Weather Stripping

I have an '02 Jetta Wagon (no sun roof) that drips a little when it rains. It drips on the front doors only and it is very slight. Can you guys give me some tips to replace the weather stripping? Is it hard to do myself? Does it come pre-cut? Could it be that the doors are just not closing tight enough? Thanks!

Also, you know that strip of foam-like stripping across the top of the doors? The one that the front and rear doors share? What purpose does that serve?
