The fus block above the battery on my new Beetle burned up. Bought a replacement and installed it, but now the car is completely dead. Checked the battery and it is fully charged. Any ideas what could be wrong?

 

The fuse box above the battery on my new Beetle burned up. Bought a new one and replaced it, but now the car is completely dead. Checked the battery and it is fully charged. I have double and tripple checked the installation and can't find anything wrong. Any ideas as to what could be the problem?
