Upgrading Halogens to HID/pods in a 2006 T1
After lots of reading, I don't see a solution on any VW forum. Interesting cable adapter from KUFATEC, but they tell me it only applies to 2007 vehicles and on.
Here's my story. I have a 2006 Touareg with standard Halogen headlights--the lenses are thoroughly clouded, inside and out. I polished the outsides, then you could see that the inner surfaces were ruined as well. So rather than buying new pods, I acquired a pair of gently-used T1 HID headlight pods (7L6 941 015[/017] BQ), and also a pair of Headlight Wiring Harness Adapters (7L6971071A). But, I am not at-all confident that I can use these parts to directly replace the halogen set up; for example, the number of wires/connectors in the existing harness are 6-count, and the HID harness adapter are 12-count. Can the KUFATEC adapters be brought into the mix to solve the problem?
I hope someone has successfully pulled off this upgrade and can provide some expertise or guidance on how to proceed. I do have the VAGCOM tool.
