Polo Cross, 2006, 1.4, piston skirt knocking sounds???
I am the lucky owner of an orange Polo Cross 1.4 2006 model, Petrol. Current car ODO is 50 000 km. Lately the engine has some VERY annoying sounds...!
All valve lifters are replaced.
Workshop wants to replace the engine due to what they believe is piston skirt knocking sounds. Expensive..!!
Any help is appreciated...!!! :-)

Welcome to the forum. 
I played the video and it sounds a ticky you need the cam cover off as it sounds like something is tappety but are they hydraulic lifters? It doesn't sound like piston skirts thats to lighter noise it sounds more like one tappet come loose. The mileage isn't high providing thats genuine.
