Brand new car making whirring noise
Hi guys,
Hopefully somebody can help me.
My car has been making a loud humming noise for the past 2 months (as you can hear on the videos attached):

-
The noise occurs when braking and turning left (at the same time). It especially happens when in reverse.
It happens at any time of the day - mornings, afternoons, evenings etc etc and it doesn’t matter how long I’ve been driving for, it happens if I’ve been driving for 15 mins, or an hour. However, it is intermittent, so some days it’s quiet, sometimes it’s loud.
It’s a brand new Polo GTI, so obviously this shouldn’t be happening baring in mind I’ve only had it 5 months.
Ive taken it to VW and they said it’s a ‘characteristic of the car’, and it’s not the brakes. Just wondering what you guys thought and whether you have any ideas?
For the record I’ve booked it in again for them to keep the car for a few days because the noise wasn’t happening when I first got it.
Hopefully somebody can help me.

If its a new car it should be under warranty take it back to get it checked out.
I can't hear any whirring noise in those video's only a ticking.

Hi Danny, I have the exact same problem but I live in Australia. I have bought my Volkswagen POLO GTI MY19 about 2 years ago. Noticed the issue after my first VW service. VW replaced the brake pads and rotor discs however still the same issue. I took it to another VW service center for a brake inspection (no cause or fix) and now today I took it to my 3rd major service and they said there is still no current fix for this issue and is also a nationwide fault found in the vehicle. I also noticed the issue happening when braking gently when reversing and this makes a loud humming noise, I noticed this is especially worse when you reversing.
