what oil should i use?

I would like to know the best oil wieght and brand for 04 passat gls 1.8 turbo w/13,ooo mi. the owners manual says to use 5w40. Can i use Mobil 1 ow40 without voiding warranty?

Oil doesn't void warranty, only mods and upgrades, etc. void warranties
