Hi everyone, I am turning 16 soon and was looking for possible cars to purchase on Edmunds. I came across this Passat, and I think it would be a good car for a new driver because its a sedan and the insurance wouldn't be to overpriced. I prefer this car over a 2000 Accord, per se, mainly because of the styling. Anyways, would this be a good car to buy for a first time driver? Do they hold up well? Do they require a lot of repairs? How much would the insurance be for a 16 year old (estimate)?

I know nothing about bying a car in the states or insurance :-) But I know something about VW. Generally my experiences with Passat has been overwhelming good. I am currently driving a Passat 3B 1.9 TDI from 97, which is a very strong car in which I can drive many miles. I have had some repairs, but it was only very small things. I would recommend a VW Passat to anyone.
