I am looking at buying a 1991 Passat diesel wagon. My questions are; 1) what kind of fuel mileage can I expect and 2) what kind of passat diesel specific issues should I look for before I buy? Thanks,

I have a 96' passat TDI saloon. I get 43 mpg, though your lookin at a wagon so the extra weight might lower the miles. It also depends how you drive. If you drive like a maniac youll get lower mpg. This may sound stupid but when i fill my car up at the gas station i do it in the morning because the diesel is denser and youll get a little more.
