Hi guys, this is my first post here. My wife has a 2006 passat wagon. So far the car has run well .I have noticed that when i turn off the engine and get out there is a buzzing/humming noise coming from the engine..it'll be there for a few minutes and then stop...any ideas?
Also, when i unlock the doors and open the drivers door there is a noise coming from the car, sounds mechanical...is it the turbo or something?

I dont have an answer to your question, but i own a 2006 passat and it does the same thing. I bought it certified and it's done it since the day i drove it off the lot so I've figured it's normal...Im still curious to know what it is though if anyone knows

 

I can't tell you exactly what is is either but, a lot of cars do that and it's nothing to worry about.

 

Hey Chef, It is your Auxiliary (second) water-pump that circulates coolant around the engine after shutoff. Happy trails.

I dont know that this is actually the case, as a bit of investigating today found me at the front of the engine compartment looking at a fan spinning very rapidly. the fan is in front of the engine, but i cant tell what its connected to without takign some things apart because everything is so compartmentalized in there. I didn't see any belts, so its presumably connected to the radiator on the other side? either way it was putting out some pretty substantial noise
