hello guys im sorry if this has been asked before ...but my passat 1.8 t 2003 emmision warning light if blinking and the car is running very rough...kinda like a misfire ???

any idea before i take it to the garage for them to tell me the bad news...i would have took it straight round but its a saturday afternoon and they all closed now till monday

You really need to have a VAG-COM\VCDS scan to see what error codes it shows up. In the US there is Autozone which will do a free scan hoping you will buy something of them.

there is no error codes coming up on the dash ??? just that blinking emmision light ...would the vag/com still show up codes even if no errors came on dash??

vag/com......is that a reader that you plug into under the dash to read codes...if it is then no i dont have one...and the vw specialist 200 yds from me charges £40.00 plus vat just to plug it in ... and its not even a main dealer

thats why i was just wanting some advice on what it might be ...but i understand its hard to know when you not actually looking at it

Yes thats correct it plugs in the EOBD socket under the dash. You can guess at which part you want but that will cost you dearly.

If your thinking of keeping the car then its a worth while investment as it will fit any VAG vehicle (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda). There are cheap ones on eBay but I wouldn't recommend those as they are limited as they aren't genuine.

hi all....just an update...after a few phone calls today im 99% sure its the ignition coil(s)

a few vw garages has said they are a common problem on these cars...and one guy said phone vw up and see if your car has been recalled...which i did phone and taa daa

its booked in tomorow for a recall of all ignition coils free of charge and a courtesy car

but ive also noticed that the oil filler cap has a little bit creamy sludge on it ...and the water in the tank where you fill up is very slippery and it doesnt feel right??? but i cant see any oil in it

Well the creamy sludge on the oil filler cap is because you only do short journeys the engine doesn't get hot enough to burn the moisture off.

An oily cooling system cap is another issue it could be oil leaking into the cooling system.
