Frustrating unsolvable dashboard indicator light / mysterious carwash water intrusion
Well, another VW mystery that nobody can seem to solve!
I've noticed the past two carwashes I've used have led to pretty heavy leaking under the glove compartment in the front passenger footwell. It's not actually in the glove compartment itself, but coming from the seam under the glove compartment where the panel is that covers the AC blower motor.
It only happens during carwashes, and not during rain.
My first thought was that the drain holes under the windshield cowl were clogged. But I removed the windshield wipers and both holes on the driver and passenger side were clear. I even ran water from a hose directly into them and it flowed through to the underside of the car.
Now however all of my dashboard indicator lights are on. Check Engine, ABS, Airbag, Parking Brake. They stay on immediately after ignition until I turn the car off again.
Very occasionally, all of them will go off after about 30 minutes of driving at highway speeds (60+ mph) except the Airbag indicator. That one is ALWAYS on. I've disconnected/reconnected the battery, and that doesn't clear the codes. I've also used an OBD scanner into the front driver side port to pull any codes, but none come back.
The only thing I can think of is the water intrusion behind the glove compartment shorted out some master sensor or something that controls the dashboard indicators.
However, I cannot find ANYTHING online that says there might be something in that area that would control the dashboard lights.
The only thing remotely electronic that I can find in the front passenger footwell area is my 2012 CC has what I think is the Bluetooth control module sort of Velcroed under the passenger seat. But I don't think that's the problem, because my phone still connects through Bluetooth without a problem and streams music.
I've also replaced the AC blower motor twice because the fan control was stuck on high. Since that's in the same area as the leak, I wonder if that's connected as well.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
1) What would lead to a carwash forcing water into only the front passenger footwell and behind the glove compartment other than clogged drain holes?
2) Is there anything, any sensor control or something behind the glove compartment, near the AC blower motor that would cause ALL the dashboard indicators to come on after ignition and stay on?
3) Any ideas on how to fix it?!
I've called my VW dealership and they point blank said they don't deal with water intrusion.
Sorry for the long post, but I can't think of anything else to try!
