Default Cambelt interval

Hi

Does anyone know what the cambelt interval is for a 55 plate VW passat (new shape)?

Dealers are saying 60k and Nationwide are saying 80k mileage. Not sure who to believe, but I do remember 80k as the one to watch out for.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

Carl

The only thing you need to worry about is the condition of the belt. If it's badly cracked or shows signs of rubbing or is much thinner than the pulleys or any other signs of wear it needs to be replaced.

How do I go about inspecting it, as I haven't got a clue what I'm looking for?

Thanks

It's a 55 plate 2.0 TDI Passat.

Thanks

It is the belt that turns the crankshaft. It is to the left of the valve cover. It is connected to a few pulleys. You just want to look at the ribbed side for signs of wear that I mentioned earlier.
