I have an issue i need help with. I own a 2013 passat SE and wish to install a back up camera due to a recent injury that has caused me back and neck problems, making it difficult to turn my body. I have done research and clearly my rcd-510 does not accept video feed so i need a new unit as well as the camera.

while i can obtain both an rns-510 as well as a camera, i decided to call Volkswagen service to see what my options are. they said that my car would not support a retrofit of the camera or the new in dash unit and that they cannot install it for me.

i would like to know if this is true and what my options are. it would help me a great deal to get this installed and i thought it would be more or less a simple switch of the in-dash unit and hooking up the camera.

I'm not aware that the RNS510 won't allow the retrofit of an OEM camera.
