Default RE: 2006 - air filter replacement

I know for a fact that air filter is one of the VW Passat parts that most of car owners complains because it is really hard to locate to be able to replace it but it is not that hard if you have the proper knowledged and tools in replacing it... Anyway, the filter is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. Take off the trim on the filter housing. Remove the three Phillips screws on the front radiator support for the air ducting. Loosen and unclip the four hold down clips around the filter housing. Disconnect the purge valve connecter. Lift up the top portion of the filter housing. Four inches is good. Remove the air filter and replace. Then make sure that air filter and housing is lined when locking all four tabs. Any dirt that passes the filter will scratch the cylinders and damage the mass air meter so be very carefull... Goodluck!!!
