In the next few days I will be replacing the right front axle in a 1.8t. The axle did not come with a new spindle bolt. Should I use the old one? Any pitfalls I should watch out for? I have auto experience but non on VW.

 

No reason you can't use the old one. Unless it seems damaged in some way.
