2001 Passat 1.8t - Flex Plate Bolts won't budge - Help!!!
I have the starter removed, and also removed the exhaust and turbo assembly so there is plenty of room to go at the FP bolts.
What appears to be the best way to go about removing these bolts is to use a T55 torx socket bit and a couple feet of extension. .. also have a socket holding the crank pulley to immobilize the flex plate. But when I try to break loose any of the bolts, applying quite a bit of force, the torx bit slips away from the bolt. I have had no luck getting any of the bolts loose.
Could a cheap torx bit be the culprit? The one I am using is some chinese or tawain junk, which is all my mate has in his box.
Should I spend the money on a quality bit and see if it makes a difference?
I definitely do not feel comfortable using a cheap tool in the first place.
