2000 beetle head bolts
Help needed. Have a 2000 beetle that has stripped timing belt. I need to remove cylinder head to see how bad the damage is(i.e.) piston or just valves as #3 plug looks really bad. What socket are the head bolts? Similar to the one used on the drive axles only differnet size?? Also it appears the end bolts are different from inner ones. Any reply appreciated!!!!!

RE: 2000 beetle head bolts
Roger, they are NOT torx!!!! They are called "poly-drive"!!!! I am really shocked that no one else at this forum had replied sooner.(note the date of the post)If you are CAREFUL, the torx will bring them out, as i had to do as a last resort to confirm major engine damage; dropped valves, valve heads sticking sideways out of piston tops, etc. Type in VW special toolstools on your browser and get the RIGHT tool!!!! If i have a chance here shortly i will try to find the vendor again for you as you took the time to reply for me. My need for this tool is long gone..

Roger, the website is www.zdmak.com. Look at item #T10070. THIS is what you need if you can wait for them to ship it to you. Have fun.
