Hi all,

So I've been having some problems with my Passat recently (Error Code P0342 - Camshaft Sensor). It just died on me once while I was on the freeway. I was working removing the camshaft sensor (and praying that this is the error) and I found this broken line. I'm not sure what it is, although it looks like a vacuum line and it comes from somewhere under the intake manifold. I tried (quickly) to block it with another hose, but that still didn't solve my current problem.

What is this line? What problems may it cause if broken? Is it just a coincidence that I found it while having my current problem?

Also, if anyone has had their car die on them (electrical power was still present) all of a sudden and then gotten code P0342, any help would be much appreciated.
