My 1998 passat starts normally but after i drive a few minutes and stop at a store , when i go to start the car it wont start. It just cranks over then i smell a little gas. If i let it sit a while she will start . Sometimes if if just keep cranking the motor it will start but has a little bonging noise then returns to normal. Any idea will help thanks

 

There is an open recall on passats...i was smelling gasoline while driving come to find out it had to do with something underneath and was covered by VW. Maybe have your local VW check it out.
