Default 02 passat 1.8T pics

Hi,

I am attempting to install an engine in an 02 Passat (1.8T)....since the engine was out of the vehicle when I got it, I have no reference for where the hoses, etc, go. ...and the VW manual doesn't provide enough info in that regard...

Does anyone out there have any detailed pics of the engine compartment in an 02 Passat 1.8T (or similar) that show vacuum hoses, connections, etc. that they could point me to or share with me ?

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Brian,

You can reference some of the pictures I have fom my photo album or if you need anymore picture I could take some for you and send them to you. I have recently removed my engine from my 02 passat 1.8T. Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Thanks for the offer Mason ! I took a look at your album....some of the pics expand while others remain postage stamp size...not sure why. I'm pretty sure I have the vacuum hoses routed properly, however, on the driver's side of the engine, underneath the intake manifold I see a little rubber boot facing the ground....the boot appears to have a little hole in it, seemingly for a hose, but I have no idea what might go there....any chance you might have a detailed picture of the underside of the intake ?....if it isn't obvious what I am referring to, I will take a pic & sent it to you.

Also, I attempted to get the engine mated with the transmission a couple of days ago....if you learn any tricks on aligning them I'd appreciate you passing that info on.

Thanks in advance for your help !

I can take some pictures tonight and get them over to you. Do you have a manual or auto tranny?

Getting the tranny alinged is always a bitch! I don't care what anyone says unless it's out of the car its hard. the best thing to do is to try and get it as close as you can and use a long thin screwdriver or a smaller long bolt that you can get it somewhat alinged. Then just make sure your slpines are alinged with the clutch and try to slide it together.

Hi,

I am getting ready to install my engine.....I bought a new clutch & it comes with a little needle bearing.....I can't seem to figure out where it goes.....is it pressed into the flywheel ? If so, how do I get the old one out ?

Thanks !

I will check my manual and let you know. It might be good to invest in a haynes manual for like 20 bucks at like auto zone or advanced.
