Default VW Jetta 2004

I have a 2004 vw Jetta and the ecm is bad I purchased a used one and am wondering can I just replace it and be done with that part of it or is there something special I have to do after changing it?

You will need it coding.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing and check systems out.
