i have a 1999.5 mk4 and the transmission needs to be replaced i found theres 5 different trannsmission codes for the 5 speed with a 2.0 is it a must to get the right code or is there a couple i can use cuz i dont know...and i need to find the code still so where do i look for that at???...can i just give the manufacture my vin and have them tell me?

 

they should be able to tell u everything about the car by the vin.. i know ford can..

 

look in the trunk under the mat by the spare tire. I believe you can find the codes somewhere around there. Also check the tags on the inside of the driver door jam and the door as well. I dont exactly remember where it is located but the trunk is a good place to start
