Default Transmission problems 2000 jetta

Okay. I was comming home from work, getting off the highway and stopped at a stop light. Light turned green and I started to accerlate. Shifting between 3rd and 4th a hear a loud clunk and then tried shifting. To nearly no avail. I had to jam the shifter into 4th and then luckly got home which was only a few blocks away. I realized the pushing the clutch peddle all the way down I realize that the car is not all the way engaging. The clutch is not releasing demoing to allow me to shift gears.

Sorry if this sounds like gibber jabber. This is my first manule so I don't know the jargon associated with Manuel transmissions.

What do you think could have happened?

Welcome to the forum.

Or even manual gearboxes.

You've poted in the Jetta section but you don't say which type.

The clutch disengages the drive from the engine to the gearbox when you push the pedal down not engages.

If the clutch operated perfectly on the previous day then I would look at the hydraulics you could try bleeding any air out of the clutch to aid with the clutch disengagement.

Once the car is moving you don't really need a clutch as the syncromesh in the gearbox will aid in gear changing. The main part you need it is moving of from rest.

Well as far as I know it would be a standard jetta. There is no marking on the car itself not on the title. Where exactly would I bleed the air out of the clutch? Sorry I have only had this car for 6 days now and am quite irrated to have this happe .
