Spec breakdown of jetta models
I am looking into purchasing a used car and i am beginning to consider purchasing a vw but I know nothing about them. I currently have a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP that hauls a*s so I am looking for something with some get-up-and-go but has decent mpg.
I am looking at the Jetta but I was wondering if someone would give me a breakdown and the pros and cons of the Jetta TDI, GLI, VR6 models.

VR6 - naturally aspirated high compression v6 motor. very peppy motor
GLi - turbo 4 cylinder gas motor, also very peppy
TDi - turbo diesel, not at all what you are looking for
if you really want to find out more about them, go to a VW dealership and test drive some different models there. the only one that will really compare to your pottywreck, sorry pontiac, will be the phaeton with the v12 in it, but that will not give the fuel economy you are looking for. if you look into the passat, i think that can have the optional 4.2 liter v8 with 4motion AWD. again, not the best fuel economy. GLi should put you closest to what you are looking for from VW, but VR6 may also have some of what you are looking for.
i agree with elrocco though that VW isn't for you.
Better options more comparable to what you have now:
Nissan 370z with aftermarket turbo kit, Ford Mustang with stock supercharger, Chevy Camaro v6 then do aftermarket twin turbo, dodge charger, challenger, or 300 with SRT-8 6.1 liter supercharged v8, mitsubishi evo 10, subaru STi.
