Question reverse camera questions

hi,

I have a 2010 Jetta that didn't come with the reverse camera, but it does have the touch screen radio.

My trunk got dented the other day and replacement trunks at the junk yards are the same price with and without the camera, so why not get one with?

So the question is, does the oem radio already have all the reverse camera software and functionality that would automatically work if a recognized camera were plugged into it?

If so, I could get the collision mechanic to just wire it up.

If not, is there a software hack/upgrade/alteration that will make it work?

Is thus Jetta a saloon or estate?

The rear view camera is options so it was probably never fitted from new, you prbably can fit a camera if you wanted to. Which radio do you have fitted?

DIY: Retrofitting a backup camera (BUC) onto a Golf/Jetta Sportwagen

You would probably have to enable it with VAG-COM\VCDS.

Hi, Keith! Thanks for your quick response.

My jetta is a sedan (saloon) with the 4 doors and trunk. The radio I have is a touch-screen bluetooth enabled satellite radio cd changing one... not sure of the exact name of it... i could take a pic if necessary. hm I wonder if my mechanic has the VAG-COM software...
