rear disc brakes help!!!

Default rear disc brakes help!!!

hey guys i have a 2000 jetta im changing my rear disc brakes and rotors. ive already installed the new rotors but im having a hard time pushing the piston on the caliper back in so the pads will fit. ive already broken two of the tools used to push the pistons back in so i guess im missing something and one have some good advice?

Use a large set of channel lock pliars. That should do the trick. Brute force required lol

DId u take the cap of the brake fluid resevoir?

i hope you didn't get a c clamp and press it open.

rent or buy(best investment i made) a disc brake caliper service kit.

the piston has to be turned to open it. you shouldn't have to force anything. if so somethings wrong. if you are going to reuse the disc either get it machined or if it's smooth then lightly sand out the shine with a very fine sand paper. and don't forget to take some brake fluid out of your resevoir, otherwise you'll get that nasty fluid everywhere.

fyi with the front discs just use a large c clamp and it'll compress.
