Oil consumption question
Hello all, Here is my dilema. I frequently change the oil in my 2001 jetta. For some reason after a couple of months I need to add oil. Where does the oil go? I do not have a leak. How often do you change the oil in you r Jetta? Is it common for Jettas to "eat" up so much oil? My Toyota always shows oil on the dipstick. I change it when the oil is black. Any help is appreciated. thank you

RE: Oil consumption question
how many miles do you have on your engine? Also how hard do you drive your jetta? also do you have any mods on your jetta? Does it smoke at all out of the tail pipe? I'll help you trouble shoot to find why your car is consuming oil. sorry for all the questions but it's going to give me a better description of the possible problem without actuallly seeing the car.

RE: Oil consumption question
You should change your oil at 3000 miles. If your car is a factory turbo then the turbo is burning the oil most likely and you should keep watch on your oil lever regularly(weekly) If your car has a lot of miles on it you may be up for a set of rings. You need to be more specific on your information though.

respect, kinky1977
but it might just be an unseen leak or a leak that is often over looked..........oil pan, crank, valve covers, or internals like bad seals forcing oil into the piston to be [sm=badbadbad.gif]( burned).
