Default OIL change

I just got an 06 Jetta (2.5L) and I'm planning on doing the oil changes and general maintenance myself... My question is... Does anybody know how critical it is to use the drain tool for the oil filter???.. this tool is about $80.00 USD.. I'm wondering if I really need it... and the other question is.. how critical is to change the drain plug???
And a piece of advise.. if you need a Service Manual... get the Bentley manual... it's the best I've ever seen.
Thanks for the help... and happy driving !!!

Default RE: OIL change

HE'S RIGHT ....GO BENTLEY....THE BEST.....HAYNES IS GOOD...CHILTON IS GOOD IN SOME AREAS.....BUT SOME PUBLISHERS OFFER THE FACTORY SERVICE MANUALS......SELECT YRS AND MODELS...THEY ARE PRICEY BUT WORTH THE INVESTMENT AT AROUND 60 BUCKS!
