Default Oil capacity and stuff

they dont realize how important are these oil discoveries are and also linking the islands through the rumoured conceptualization of a bridge. why not try it rather than just fishing.

If you give a man a fish he will set it alight in a bathtub full of bicycles - but if you give him a typewriter and a thousand marsupials he will orchestrate a new paradigm.

Question from the Jetta Newbie... don't mean to start an old debate but here goes.

What brand oil should I go with? I see in my manual Synthetic 5w40 is recommended with 5w30 as an acceptable alternate. I usually can't find Mobil 1 in 5w30, even less 5w40.

Mobil 1's web page suggests 0w40 but I wanted to solicit other opinions.

Also.... what kind of maintenance should I do having bought a Jetta 2.5 with 31,xxx miles? Looks like a brake fluid change is due - simple siphon out and replace, right? Or flush the lines? Air Filters are due as well, no biggie, right?

Is there a trick to resetting the service reminder light or is that a dealer only item?

For what it is worth, my truck has had every oil change since day one done by me. I do most of my own work. Just new to working on VWs.

thanks!
