Jetta trunk won't open (2000 model)PLEASE HELP!!!!!

The trunk to my 2000 Jetta won't open. I think it is a jammed lock. any advice would help.

30lb sledge hammer and a crowbar...kidding

Can you access the truck via the inside of the car? Should be a safety quick release in inside the actual truck, see if that'll open it...if not, might have to have the whole lock and hatch assembly removed and replaced.
