Default I need help with a new exhaust on my 2000 jetta

Hi, i wanna replace my exhaust system with an aftermarket one so i can get a nice deeper sound from my 2.slow 2000 jetta.

I was wondering if i could just somehow do it for real cheap and easy with bolt ons? or do i have to do welding?

And if i get a whole exhaust system, is it hard to install? Like im mostly worried about installation around the headers.

Btw, links to guides or links to good deals would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Theres no cheap way to replace your exhaust. If you want a deeper sound get a flow through muffler put on. It'll open up a couple of horses too.

True, just have an exhaust sop do it if you're so worried, a reputable shop wouldn't charge alot and screw you with shotty craftsmanship.

also your exhaust is only as big as the smallest point so if your looking for sound get a cat back but if your looking for sound and hp do the whole thing.

well I don't have a turbo, so I think it made sense for me to do cat-back system, but I'm sure once I get a turbo I'm forced to do the whole downpipe, everything...right? Just thought I'd slide my own question in, hope ya don't mind...

ORIGINAL: SwedishGP

Bagel: Yes turbo back is the way to go, same size all the way back, including a monolithic cat which is higher flow and keeps those pesky smog guys off your ****...

Clash: Turbo or not you will still have to get welding done, depending on the size there is quite a difference, but if you just want sound and not alot of performance go with a rear section only. Cheapest by far
so just the actual muffler is what ur saying? no cat converter or anything?

and if i get a stainless rear, then is it hard to weld regular metal to stainless?

also, can i buy something like this? is this what ur talking about?

NO NO NO!! Total rice can!! No an actual muffler not a rice can..this is German not Asian. If all you care about is sound then get a Magnaflow muffler. Cut the old muffler off and weld in the new one.

Swedish, I don't have a turbo, so why would I do a turbo back exhaust???
