Default Hey guys, could you tell me if anything is wrong with my jetta?

So, I drive a 2000 jetta gls. It's a manual transmission. This has only happened twice, but I noticed that it shakes a tiny bit while I'm driving sometimes. Not much. But maybe once or twice within the last few days. Today I accidentally stalled it in my driveway but it was no biggie. Probably the first time I have since I got it. While I was shifting from 3rd to 4th later today the check engine light went on and it felt weird to shift for about 5 seconds and then it went back off. Should I be worried at all? It has 142,000 miles. I don't know if that matters or not

Its very hard to diagnose problems on the web without the full details.

Hi Lauren. Do you have an OBD2 reader by any chance? I can't promise anything but it sounds like "it's missing" when accelerating. I would have someone check your spark plugs and distributor cap. I have a 1996 Jetta and I have replaced these at least 2 or 3 times over the last 10 years. It's always solved the problem for me. It'd be interested in seeing what the check engine light is on for. See if it says cylinder misfire. If it does, I would replace the spark plugs and distributor cap.

Yeah i guess it is pretty much difficult to give a verdict on the situation of your Jetta..unless some one sees it in person..i guess you better take it to a nearby mechanic and get it checked.

What was the code for the engine light? Sometimes stalling out a car can throw a code...

It sounds like your clutch may need to be replaced, has it ever been replaced?
