Just bought a '97 Vento with 1.9 TDI 66KW/90 HP engine. RPMs are running about 2500 to 2800 at 60 km/h. Is this normal?

 

Wait! Wait! Before buying have you checked online its prices and its features. I think test drive would have been d best option. If any of these options u have not tried don't worry. it's fine. let me tell dat u have really made a good choice. The looks of dis car is modern, elegant and striking.

No this isn't normal its sounds like its in limp home mode which is a common problem with TDI's.

Check that all the small vacuum pipes and connections are in good condition.

You could also do with finding someone with VAG-COM\VCDS to so an Autoscan for you. If you live in the States then I believe AutoZone will do you a free scan in the hope you buy something of them.

If anyone does a scan for you we need the error codes posting.
