Question HELP! Deciding between a 2000 Jetta and 2003 Passat

Hey all I'm new here, so I don't even know if this is in the right place.

Anyways, I am looking for a first car. I have a decision between

1) a White 2000 VW Jetta GLS with Leather, Sunroof, & Alloy wheels for $5500 OBO. Pics, Video
or
2) a Black 2003 VW Passat GLS 1.8T with Cloth, Sunroof, & Alloy wheels for $6495 OBO.
Pics, Video

I know NOTHING about VW's so I would like your opinion between the two for everything you can think of. Meanwhile I will tell you my petty complaints about either:

The Passat:
-has an EXCELLENT exterior...It's beautiful.
-I don't like the antenna on the back that sticks up.
-Interior is all black and cloth and doesn't look that nice.
-more expensive

The Jetta:
-has nice white exterior.
-looks a bit more outdated on the outside (by 3 yrs.)
-interior is EXCELLENT with beautiful tan leather.
-no protruding antenna
-cheaper

So those are my nitpicky complaints but I'd like to hear your "professional" opinions on both cars.

Thanks!!

Jetta has 2.0, aka two point slow, and takes 87 octane fuel. its a good little motor, plenty of low and mid range power for the average driver, but it is not a racing motor by any stretch of the imagination. jetta is slightly smaller than passat. leather requires conditioners to keep it from drying out and cracking. if it gets dirty, it can take more to clean it off than cloth. car is FWD.

Passat - turboed motor, will be a faster car than the jetta. i dont have experience with the 1.8, so i dont know its powerband. it requires minimum of 91 octane gas though. with gas prices going the way they are, you will be paying about 30-50 cents per gallon more for gas than regular. it is a little bigger than the jetta. when a turbo wears out, the car runs like crap until you get the turbo replaced which can cost $3000 just for a new turbo, plus installation. car is FWD unless it has 4motion, but i doubt that.

either way, both postings were flagged for removal, so neither one will work out so well it looks like
