Default Fuel Gauge

Anyone have their fuel gauges not read correctly after running it to empty then filling all the way topped off? I did this and it stayed on E then SLOWLY moved back up to Full after 20 minutes of driving.

Default RE: Fuel Gauge

yo i have a 97 golf, and yea that happened to me once... i nearly crapped my pants since i though the gas pump was empty or something... but after about 1 hour, my gauge read full again... My only reasoning for this was that eventually your gas tank will get grimy, and perhaps it just temporarly "oozed" over the sensor... however, it these vw's are equipted with a mechanical float of some sort... then i have no idea, and i am thankfull i didnt have to replace anything enjoy.
