Front end noise on Jetta
I have a 2001 Jetta 1.8T. I bought the car with 93,000 miles on it and now has 104,000. It's been an awesome car and have had no problems with it until recently. When my front wheels slip on ice or dirtit makes an annoyingnoise in the front end [:@] but stops when it gains traction. Also everytime i go over a bump the front end makes a slight knocking noise near the wheels, i know its not the shocks cause i just replaced all 4 of them. I would appreciate any help, or suggestionswith these questions i can get, thanks!

RE: Front end noise on Jetta
Over ice it's almost like a quiet grinding noise, yea? That's what it sounds like to me, but that's just the traction control slwoing down the wheel speed, is what I was told. As far as a knocking, could be one of the front end suspension parts becoming loose, like a tie rod, mine was and also struts.

Thanks for the help. That's good to know about the traction control, but it makes since, i was hoping it wasnt anything to serious. I hear that alot of Jetta's do that.I was looking at my car and i think the front end noise might be coming from my brake calipers being a little loose,so ill have to look further into that. Thanks again.

RE: Thanks
Hey no problem. Come to think about it, before winter I had a little noise, loud enough just so you could barely hear it. I replaced brake pads and the noise is gone..lol..didn't occur to me until you said something.
