Disabling Security System (96 Jetta)
Hi all,
I really need some help. I need to disable the security system on my 96 Jetta. I tried going to the passanger side door and unlocking it, which usually works to disable the system from honking and not starting, but this time it won't work. There was a small electrical short inside the drivers side door, so I'm thinking something shorted and won't allow the security system to be disabled normally.
So, is there anyway to completely disable the security system? And is this the best option for me? This is my daily driver, so I really need to get it back soon.
Thanks,
Jake

I don't know too much about that, I've installed them and that's about it. I would check a dealership for information, or get a wiring diagram off a chiltons manual, those are like vehicle bibles. I don't think that disabling the alarm would be a good idea, depending on where you live....my VW is my baby..ha ha
