clunking noise in front end?
I have a 00 jetta 1.8t and there is a clunk noise in the front end that i cant seem to pinpoint...it started out as a little noise and now its getting worse...it makes a little clunk when i first drive the car then after about 5 mins or so it gets alot worse. Over little bumps its just a little clunk but over bigger bumps it clunks alot more (like it keeps clunking) like it rattles for a sec then it stops untill i go over another bump. Ive replaced the control arm, ball joint, and sway bar bushing on the passenger side....any ideas what i can be?
Sounds like your steering mount. Mine does the same thing. Ken Garff Volkswagen in utah told me they would fix it for $1,300 including labor so i decided to put it off cause its not even that bad. I found one at a parts web site for $300 so hopefully it gets fixed soon.
I'm experiencing the same problem on my jetta. Before i bought the car i had it taken to my dad's friend who works on foreign cars, he said all that was wrong was my CAT (talked in another thread about it) and my swaybar bushing link on the right said was worn, i thought thats what was making the clunking noise. Maybe i have something bigger on my hands after reading this
So im replacing the strut mount and bearing b ut i can t for the life of me figure out how to remove the bolts the connect the inner cv to the drive flange? How do i do this?
