Default Check Engine Light

I have an 02 1.8T stock, recently had the fans and water pump replaced. I have 71k miles. Coming home from work today check engine light magically appeared, any suggestions based on mileage. This is my commuter car, does not get romped on abused. standard driving about 60 miles per day? I know timing belt issue arise. Any ideas before i spend 100.00$ on someone saying yeah you got a bad tank of gas, or neesds a new air cleaner or new air filter?

Default RE: Check Engine Light

i have a 00 jetta vr6 & a week after i bought it with 61,000 miles the light came on. i was pissed & asked my cuz who owns a 4cyl jetta about it, he said not to worry that it would go away on its own & it did over night. i thought is was over but it kept comin back on every so often. Then one day i decided to put a cai in it (no light on) and after disconnecting the wiring to the factory hose, a censor that i disconnected set off a lot of lights including the check engine. a few days later i decided to put the original back on & all the lights went away & sense then the check engine light has never come back on. (knock on wood) maybe u should try messing around with that sensor connection on the original intake. im not an expert but it might work for u too & theres no harm in tryin. good luck!
