Car stuck in Panic mode and will not start
The electronic key does not lock or unlock doors on 99 Jetta. When you try to start car it just panics and horn honks. Tried disconnecting battery to try to reset it but does not work. Is there a way to get car out of panic without the clicker working? Tried replacing clicker batteries as well, no luck.

RE: Car stuck in Panic mode and will not start
I recently had this happen to me, and it is quite embarrasing. But anyways what you have to do is make sure all the windows are up and get out of the car and lock it and then unlock it and lock it and unlock it again with the key on the drivers side door and then try to start it. If that doesn't work try to lock it and unlock it twice on the passengers side door.Locking it andunlockingtwice in a row overrides the alarm in the computer. It worked for me, I hope it works for you.

RE: Car stuck in Panic mode and will not start
Just thought I would add locking, and unlocking it twice (turn key up twice) works for me too, sometimes my alarm goes into panic mode for no reason and this fix always works on my 97, then car should start, Ive heard there were problems with the alarms, and ive even heard of drivers keeping an extra key in the door while they drive the car so they can reach put the window and reset it if it goes off while driving (happened to me once), if anyone knows a root cause for this and what to check, it would be great if they posted it.
