Default Can wrong battery size kill the alternator?

The other day my battery died on me so I got it jumped and drove it to Sears to get my battery replaced.
After driving around for a day my radio started cutting in and out, windows went up slow, abs brake light came on
and finally I needed to jump start the car to get it to the dealership.

VW dealership said Sears put too small of a battery for my '99 Jetta GLS VR6.
I contacted Sears, the manager looked up batteries for my car and found out they don't even carry
a battery for my type of car and didn't know why they installed any battery at all.

Well now my alternator is dead. Can putting wrong size battery(too small) in car kill the alternator?

Thanks,
~Dave

Absolutely not, because when my Volswagen alternator died on me last week my father told me that a weak battery can kill the alternator and a weak alternator can kill a battery....So, the two should stand each other...

Battery is only used to start the car, and back up power, alternator keeps the car running. Alternator is dead, just change it, battery shouldn't be too small otherwise the car wouldn't start.
