Default Buying a used TDI

Hi guys-

I am looking for a used Jetta/Passat or possibly even a Golf to use as a commuter vehicle. I am looking for a TDI, mostly for fuel economy. With my budget what it is, and this being a second vehicle, most of the results I have come up with are 2001-2005 Jettas, with anywhere from 100K-180K miles. I understand a lot of people get well over 200K out of these cars, so I am not afraid of the mileage. Are there any common problems I could expect with a car that old? Is there anything in particular I should ask about when actually go look at one? I am aware of basic maintenance. I am more concerned with any specific service or issues that should be dealt with. All I have ever owned are Ford pickups, so this is new territory for me.

Thanks guys!
Brian

Overall great car with excellent gas mileage. The electronics on this car is usually the suspect for any problems. the car is solid.
