Buying a used TDI
Hi guys-
I am looking for a used Jetta/Passat or possibly even a Golf to use as a commuter vehicle. I am looking for a TDI, mostly for fuel economy. With my budget what it is, and this being a second vehicle, most of the results I have come up with are 2001-2005 Jettas, with anywhere from 100K-180K miles. I understand a lot of people get well over 200K out of these cars, so I am not afraid of the mileage. Are there any common problems I could expect with a car that old? Is there anything in particular I should ask about when actually go look at one? I am aware of basic maintenance. I am more concerned with any specific service or issues that should be dealt with. All I have ever owned are Ford pickups, so this is new territory for me. Thanks guys! Brian |

Have a read of the TDI buyers guides and their problems. |
Overall great car with excellent gas mileage. The electronics on this car is usually the suspect for any problems. the car is solid.
